Summary
The ring announcer reads the results decided by points from the two judges and referee Shimakawa. He announces that judge Uchida had Imae winning 95-94, judge Morita had Aoki winning 95-94, and referee Shimakawa has both winning in a draw 94-94. With the points, the announcer declares the match ending in a draw, resulting in Imae keeping his JBClightweight title. Aoki becomes down that he couldn't reach the title as he walks out of the ring. As the audience applauded for Aoki, Kimura knows that Aoki didn't want applause, instead, he wanted something that would stay with him after being on the edge for six years. Kimura, Ippo, and Itagaki head to Aoki's room to talk to him. Takamura boasts to Tomiko that he was right all along: both of them lose by his count due to their mud fight, while Itagaki's father makes a pun that the mud (泥, Doro) fight rightfully ended in a draw (ドロー, Dorō), resulting in Tomiko smacking both of them on the face, leaving a mark. In Aoki's room, Ippo, Takamura, Kimura, and Itagaki arrive. Ippo points out to Aoki that he did not lose and was close to winning, however, Aoki replies that being close doesn't make him feel better, since in the end, he didn't get the title. Aoki notices a mark on Takamura's face and asks what it is. Takamura snaps, telling him that it is from Tomiko because of his terrible match, insulting him, leading everyone to criticise Takamura. Outside the Kōrakuen Hall, Aoki thinks about that match and sees Imae with Sachiko, realising that the reason that Imae was doing well at the end was because he got back his "Goddess of Victory". Imae notices Aoki and thanked him. Aoki waves while walking away and thinks how he has already decided that if he lost, he would retire. When he sees Tomiko congratulating him, Aoki runs to her, crying and hugging her. Later that night, Ippo, Kimura, and Itagaki takes Takamura to Aoki's place to make him apologise. When they go up to his door, they overhear Aoki and Tomiko in high spirits. They decide to come back later since he seems busy and not going to retire.
